Haven't seen the flick, so I'm in no position to judge whether this analysis of the latest Godzilla movie is incredibly astute or utter hogwash...

I haven't seen the movie either, but the post is (probably) tongue-in-cheek.
The tip-off is that he refers to the post as a "Straussian reading"; that is something of an inside joke on that blog.
The joke is that he's taking a relatively simple, "unsophisticated" piece of pop culture and reading a deep meaning into it, poking fun at Leo Strauss's views on esotericism ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Strauss#Strauss_on_reading ).
Or at least that is my understanding. He has never explicitly laid out the intent behind his "Straussian readings" (others are of Star Wars and The Devil Wears Prada).

Heh.
Guess I haven't been reading him long enough to get a handle on his sense of humor...
